FOR SALE--4 FT.WIDE FLOATING DOCK

This is ICM slip #148. I still remember the cold winter snow laden late afternoon Tom and I first saw this well. It was 1990 and we had just bought a used twenty foot cabin cruiser. We needed somewhere to dock the boat for the summer. It could not be just anywhere. I have balance problems so cannot use the high or narrow docks; one sees for rent most places.

Coming round the corner of North River Rd. and Condor Bay Dr. in Harrison Township, we saw a sign that said Dockuminiums for Sale. In unison, we both said to each other, "What is a Dockuminium?" We drove into Island Cove Marina to find out.

The salesman told us that a dockuminium was something like a condominium, in that when one bought a well, you also owned one voting share in the marina itself, and the use of all the common areas of the marina.

These common areas included among other features, a club house with exercise room, sauna, showering facilities, cloths washing facilities, in-ground swimming pool, and upper level gathering room, with a full kitchen, big screen TV and wrap around balcony with a gorgeous Lake St. Clair view. In addition, owners automatically had winter storage for their boat on the premises.

But, when I heard from the salesman that the docks were for sale at $1000 per foot, I thought immediately that we could not afford that. We had one small child at home and still housing and helping two adult children, but Tom went down to see the dock, which at 25 feet was just big enough for our boat. Tom stood at the end of the dock looking out at the bay, for what seemed like a long time, and then turned around. From the expression on his face, I knew he not only wanted this dock, he desired it. We rented the dock the first year, and then the second year, we purchased it.

Since then, we have changed boats twice, and now have another well, as our third boat was too big for well #148, but even though our new well, like #148 has a beautiful view of the bay, the lake and the wildlife, I still sometimes miss well #148, and all the fun we had when we used to practically live there in the summers .

Now it is time to sell the little well. We are selling it at a bargain as it is, but will consider all offers. For information or a tour: Email: info@sulustar.com
